PURPOSE:To easily indicate the position of a principal object by illuminating the principal object with a spot light to measure the light of each picture element of a negative illuminated with only a white light source and discriminating picture elements different in photometric value as picture elements of the principal object. CONSTITUTION:A principal object 28 recorded on a negative 13a is illuminated with a spot light 27 in the state different from illumination with the white light source, and the light of each picture element of the negative is measured by an image sensor in this illumination state. The light of each picture element of the negative 13a illuminated with only the white light source is measured, and two obtained photometric results are compared with each other to discriminate the picture element different in photometric value as a picture element of the principal object. The principal object is irradiated with the spot light emitted from a principal object indicating light source like an LED 29.
