PURPOSE:To improve brake performance by providing first brakes for generating a brake force smaller than an ideal brake force determined in response to the operating force of the brake operating member and second brakes for generating a brake force corresponding to the deviation of the brake force. CONSTITUTION:There are provided on the front and rear wheels 10, 11 first brakes 20, 22 operated by a fluid pressure from a master cylinder 24 which generates the brake fluid pressure corresponding to the depression force applied to a brake pedal 25 and generating a brake force smaller than a predetermined brake force corresponding to the above depression force. Further, the front and rear wheels 10, 11 are provided with second brakes 21, 23, respectively. The second brakes 21, 23 are operated through control of respective electromagnetic control valves 58-61 by a control circuit 70 so as to generate a brake force corresponding to the difference between the brake force determined in response to the depression force detected by a pressure sensor 72 and the actual brake force detected by a vehicle deceleration sensor 74.
