A brake system with traction control for motor vehicles is equipped with at least one static brake circuit (17, 18), into which, when the control mechanism operates, pressure medium can be introduced from a dynamic pressure medium circuit. The system has a brake pressure transmitter (1), which has a master cylinder arrangement (12) and a hydraulic brake booster (11) with a booster piston (39) and a control valve (19) and is connected to a servo pressure source (2), a dynamic brake circuit (14) being connected to the booster chamber (21). In order to be able to still build up a brake pressure by foot force in the dynamic brake circuit (14) in the event of a failure of the servo pressure source (2), the booster piston is provided with a chamber (44) in which an auxiliary piston (25) is supported, the chamber (44) being connected to the booster chamber (21) and a non-return valve (47) being inserted into the feed line (54) from the servo pressure source (2) to the booster chamber (21) or in the control valve (19). <IMAGE>
