A buckle for connecting two belt strap sections of a safety belt system securely against displacement, in particular in motor vehicles, having a frame and a clamping web which forms two openings in the frame and is movable relative to the frame, both belt strap sections joined together being guided around the clamping web through the openings, is to be simpler in its handling and improved in its readiness. For this purpose, provision is made for the clamping web (11) and the buckle frame (10) to be permanently connected to one another in an asymmetrically arranged hinge (18, 19; 18, 20) of non-circular axial and bore cross-section. <IMAGE>
