Alloy elements such as Mn, B and Mo assist the formation of bainite. A process of this type has the advantage that components such as, for example, lorry king pins, which are forged at temperatures of up to 1300 DEG C, no longer have to be re-hardened by a tempering stage after cooling, so that they still also have adequate toughness in addition to high strength.
