PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing agricultural chemicals and drugs at low cost and in high yield while suppressing by-products and not requiring treatment of toxic substance, by reacting 2,5- dichlorobenzophenone with ammonia in the presence of a copper catalyst. CONSTITUTION:2,5-Dichlorobenzophenone is reacted with ammonia in the presence of a copper catalyst (e.g., cuprous oxide) in an aprotic solvent such as 1,3-dimethylimidazolidinone, etc., in an autoclave at vapor pressure of ammonia, usually 2-50kg/cm<2> at 100-200 deg.C for 5-30hr to give the aimed substance. The reaction is carried out by using 5-50 times as much ammonia as 2,5- dichlorobenzophenone and 0.01-1mol copper catalyst. 2,5-Dichlorobenzophenone as the raw material is obtained by reacting 2,5-dichlorobenzophenone with phosgene in the presence of anhydrous aluminum chloride to give 2,5- dichlorobenzoyl chloride and subjecting this compound and benzene to Friedel- Crafts reaction. |
