PURPOSE:To increase the energy efficiency and to extend the roll service life by forming the build-up layer which scatters hard particles on the base ground of Co base alloy, etc., on the roll using surface as well as by using non-magnetic steel as the base metal. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic steel of an austenite group stainless steel or die steel, etc., is used as the base metal for forming roll. Moreover, on the roll using surface the build-up layer that the hard substance of WC, TiC, etc., is held with its dispersion on the base ground composed of Co base, Ni base or Fe base alloy or these alloys is formed by build-up welding. Due to the base metal itself being made of nonmagnetic steel the hystrises loss can be prevented and the energy efficiency is improved. With the formation of the build-up layer the heat and impact resistance and wear resistance are increased and the life of the roll is prolonged.
