PURPOSE:To improve the extent of assembling mass productivity without entailing any damage to cell capacity, by using the positive plate added withgraphite large in anisotropy, while setting a degree of plate tightening pressure at the time of assembling a battery, to less then the specified value, and forming an enclosed lead storage battery. CONSTITUTION:Natural graphite is treated by heat, forming it into such graphite as being large in anisotropy, and it is added to lead powder consisting of metallic lead and lead oxide, mixing them together, and formed into a paste form, filled up in a substrate, thus a positive plate is manufactured. Next, it is combined with a negative plate, a separator or the like, and tightening pressure to a plate group is set to less then 30kg/dm<2>, housing it in a battery jar, thus an enclosed lead storage battery if formed up. Owing to an increase in positive plate thickness by expansion of the graphite during battery charging, contactivility between the separator and the plate is improved, Therefore, the plate tightening pressure is reduced and assembling can be done without entailing any damage to cell capacity, so that mass productivity is sharply improvable. |
