PURPOSE:To improve a light flux starting characteristic, by constituting auxiliary amalgam of a bulb type fluorescent lamp using a double amalgamation process, not to form an alloy as the amalgam forming metal penetrates a lead wire. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting tube 1 in U-shaped form or the like having a fluorescent film 24, sealing mercury and rare gas inside and having electrodes 13 and 14 sealed, is housed in an outer tube globe 6, while there are provided with main amalgam 16 and auxiliary amalgam 18 and 19, and a bulb type fluorescent lamp by means of a double amalgamation process is constituted. At this time, the auxiliary amalgam 18 and 19 are coated on a part of a base body 22 via a bed metal 21 together with amalgam forming metal 20, and a noncoated part 23 of the base body 22 is formed up after being connecting to a lead wire 9. And, alloy formation by penetration of the forming metal 20 into the lead wire 9 is prevented from occurring. Therefore, a favorable light flux starting characteristic is securable without lowering a function inherent in the auxiliary amalgam.
