PURPOSE:To retrieve information at high speed by a simple constitution by providing a retrieval key storage means for relating and storing the retrieval key of the same attribute in retrieval information. CONSTITUTION:An operator desires to retrieve logically the image of a key name 'A', bit in which key number of an area the image of the key name 'A' is stored is unknown, and accordingly, it is supposed that the key name 'A'' is inputted to a key number 1 from a keyboard 3. As a result, the command of 'retrieve an image related to the key name 'A' is sent out to a magnetic memory device 11 through a control device 1, and a retrieval code is set to the head block B1H of an area K1 of the first key of said retrieval key storage area 13. Subsequently, whether a key having the same attribute as the key name 'A' exists somewhere else in blocks B12-B1n or not is searched. for instance, if the key of the same attribute exists in the third key, it is decided that there is the possibility that the image of the key name 'A' exists in the third key, too, and a retrieval code is set.
