PURPOSE:To alleviate mechanical or electrical wear or consumption of a specified dot pin due to printing horizontal rules, by so controlling that the dot in position for printing a horizontal rule can be changed for each line in printing. CONSTITUTION:Where horizontal rule data are contained in printing data, printing of images other than horizontal rules is conducted by an ordinary method. Then, a paper feed controlling part 3 is so controlled that one of a plurality of dot pins provided in a vertical direction which is next to the one used for the preceding printing of a horizontal rule is matched to a horizontal rule position on a paper. When a horizontal rule printing position on the paper is matched to the position of the dot pin to be used this time for printing a horizontal rule, the horizontal rule is printed. A controlling part 2 stores the dot pin used for printing the horizontal rule, until the next horizontal rule data are received, whereby a further dot pin next to the one just used can be used for the next printing of a horizontal rule. When printing of the horizontal rules is completed, paper feeding is so controlled that ordinary printing in the next line can be performed. Thus, such a control as to sequentially change the dot pin position is performed each time the horizontal rule data are received. |
