A memory device comprises of a plurality of memory boards 10A-10C each having a number of memory banks. Each memory bank comprises memory elements 20A. In page-mode operation of the memory device, all of the memory elements receive an active row address activation signal which is maintained active as long as page-mode operation applies. Memory address information is decoded by a card decoder 22 to select a memory board and by a bank decoder 24A to select a memory bank, it being possible to select memory elements for read or write operations in the page- mode operation state. <IMAGE>
