PURPOSE:To decrease the number of the occurrence of the impossibility of the detection for an address data by recording doubly and assembling the address data including a synchronizing signal and an error detecting code related to them and detecting them in parallel by two error detecting circuits. CONSTITUTION:An address data part is composed of a sector mark (SM) 11 showing the head of the address data part, namely, the head of the sector, a lead-in signal (VFO) 12 synchronizing the clock of the clock reproducing part, two synchronizing signals (STNC 1 and STNC 2) 13 and 13', two address signals (ID) 14 and 14' and error detecting codes (CRC) 15 and 15'. For the method giving the address, the disk is divided in the diameter direction, makes this into the track, divides the inside of the track 1 into prescribed numbers and makes it into the sector. By recording the address data 14 and 14' two times together with the synchronizing signals 13 and 13' and the error detecting codes 15 and 15', the probability that both cannot detect the address data simultaneously by mistake comes to be smaller. Thus, the number of the sector is decreased in which the address cannot be detected.
