PURPOSE:To execute all of sixteen kinds of logical operations with image devices such as space light modulating tubes by forming the 1st, 2nd and 3rd image devices. CONSTITUTION:The 1st image 11A is written and stored in a space light modulator 13. The information is read out by a laser beam 32 and written in a space light modulating tube 25. The 2nd image 12B is written and stored in a space light modulating the tube 14. The information is read out by the laser beam 32 and written in the space light modulating tube 25. The 1st and 2nd images are successively written in the modulating tube 25 by alternately opening shutters 19, 20 to execute OR operation. The 2nd image is written in the modulating tube 25, an shutter 24 is opened, the modulating tube 13 is read out by the laser beam 32, and the contents of the modulating tube 25 are read out by said read beam without passing the read contents through an analyzer to execute EXOR operation.
