PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a treated product by decreasing the dead space, thereby preventing scale formation a and by allowing juxtaposed trunnions to rotate in such a manner that the edge of one of the rod-like square frames of partner impellers may sweep the zone near the rotation center of the other impeller. CONSTITUTION:While a highly viscous liquid to be treated, fed to the body 1 of a vessel from an entrance nozzle 6, is subjected to agitation and mixing actions by impellers 4a and 4b, it is transferred toward the direction of an exit nozzle 7 and continuously discharged from the exit nozzle 8 after the desired treatment operation has been performed during transfer. At this time, the impellers rotate in such a manner that the edges of the impellers 4a and 4b may sweep the zones near the rotation centers of partner rod-like square frames 3b and 3a and may scrape the inside wall of the body 1 without leaving any area unscraped. In addition, the dead space can be remarkably decreased because the mixing and agitation actions can be performed by the rod-like structure. Therefore, the adhesion to the surface of rotary shafts or to the surfaces of flat impellers or concomitant rotation of the liquid can be substantially eliminated.
