PURPOSE:To uniform the resolution of reading by dividing many reading parts into reading groups consisting of reading parts continued in the direction of paper width so that respective groups are operated with time division and setting up the intervals of adjacent reading parts on the basis of the differences of the reading order of the time division operation. CONSTITUTION:The device is constituted so that a pulse signal is outputted every movement of a shuttle type head 5 by 0.125/14mm. The reading parts Sij are arranged with a fixed interval L1 in respective groups and with a fixed interval L2 between respective groups and the intervals L1, L2 are defined as shown in the equations (1), (2). In these equations, (d) is the moving distance of the head 5 and Nij indicates the order of the reading of a reading part Sij in one group (i). Since the interval of the adjacent reading parts Sij is set up on the basis of the difference Nij-Ni(j+1) of the reading orders of the time division operation, the resolution of reading can be uniformed by executing the time division operation of the reading parts at the reading timing of the equal interval and reading an image recorded on paper.
