MODIFICATION OF OXIDATIVELY DETERIORATED POLYACETYLENE

PURPOSE:To modify oxidatively deteriorated polyacetylene so as to give thereto its initial mechanical strength, by impregnating it with a specified modifier and drying it. CONSTITUTION:Oxidatively deteriorated polyacetylene is impregnated with a compound having at least two amino groups in the molecule (e.g., hydrazine, diamine or triamine) and then dried. Also, the deteriorated polyacetylene is modified into one having initial mechanical strength. The polyacetylene thus modified is scarcely deteriorated by oxygen or the like and is stable in air as compared with the original polyacetylene.
