PURPOSE:To provide an oil for a refrigerator having excellent balance of characteristics in respect of flon resistance, lubricity, and low-temp. characteristics, which comprises a particular alkyl group-contg. diphenyl ether as a base oil. CONSTITUTION:An oil for a refrigerator which comprises a diphenyl ether having one or two 6-18C alkyl groups as a base oil. The mono- or dialkyldiphenyl ether has been recently put on the market and is commercially available. Silicone oil-based antifoamers and phosphate extreme-pressure additive may be added to the oil for a refrigerator in such an amt. as will not spoil the intended effect. The use of this oil for a refrigerator prevents the seizing and wear of the sliding portion of a flon compressor and particularly enables a high speed revolution of a compressor of the rotary type. |
