PURPOSE:To obtain the titled magnetic recording medium exhibiting excellent traveling property, wear resistance, and durability under all service conditions and maintaining such lubricating effects by coating a perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester and a titanium coupling agent as a lubricant on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film as a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester having one group among a long-chain alkyl group, an alkyl group having a double bond, and a branched alkyl group at the ester part of the perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid and the titanium coupling agent are combined. Accordingly, a lubricating action is exhibited in a wide temp. range as compared with the case where the single material is used, the maintainability of the lubricating action is improved, and the durability is increased. The perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester is synthesized by allowing a perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid to react with the corresponding alcohol. The titanium coupling agent is obtained by linking at least one group among the same or different hydrolyzable groups and at least one group among non- hydrolyzable groups to titanium. The mixing weightratio is preferably regulated to 20/80-80/20. |
