PURPOSE:To obtain the titled magnetic recording medium exhibiting excellent traveling property, wear resistance, and durability under all service conditions and maintaining such lubricating effects by coating a perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester and a silane coupling agent on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film as a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester having one group among a long-chain alkyl group, an alkyl group having a double bond, and a branched alkyl group at the ester part of the perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid and a silane coupling agent are combined. Accordingly, an excellent lubricating action is exhibited in a wide temp. range as compared with the case where the single material is used, the maintainability of the lubricating action is improved, and the durability is increased. The perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid ester is synthesized by allowing a perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid to react with the corresponding alcohol. The mixing weight ratio is preferably regulated to 20/80-80/20. The soln. obtained by dissolving the mixture in a solvent is coated or sprayed on the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film or, conversely, the ferromagnetic metallic thin film is dipped in the soln. and then dried. |
