PURPOSE:To shorten the whole length, to make operation easy and to improve resolution by arranging an image pickup tube in a direction rectangular and horizontal to the optical axis of an image pickup lens, arranging an optical filter for reflecting and separating incident light rays on the back side of the image pickup lens and arranging a master lens between the optical filter and the image pickup tube. CONSTITUTION:The optical filter 15 consisting of a half mirror film and a mirror film is arranged on the back side of a zoom lens 14, the image pickup tube 18 is arranged in the horizontal direction so that the optical axis 16 of the tube 18 is rectangular to the optical axis 17 of the lens 14 and the master lens 19 is arranged between the filter 15 and the tube 18. Since the image pickup tube 18 is arranged on said position, the length L3 of an image pickup optical device 11 is fairly shortened as compared with an ordinary example. Thereby, the TV camera can be easily portable and its handling can be improved. Thus, a color beat can be reduced without reducing the resolution in the scanning direction.
