PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically ventilate a room by a structure wherein shutter plates are open and closed through a solenoid interposed in the starting circuit of a fan and, in addition, a locking mechanism is equipped. CONSTITUTION:When a fan 1 is turned ON for ventilation, the iron core 8a of a solenoid is attracted downwards so as to lower an elevating rod 13 and a locking member 24 through levers 10 and 12, which pivot respectively about fulcrum shafts 9 and 11, in order to rotate a control member 21 clockwise against a leaf spring 23. As a result, a pressing tip piece 21 rotates an engaging member 28 clockwise against a spring 30 so as to disengage the engagement of the engaging tip piece 17a of a working member 17 with an engaging pin 28a. In succession, the working member 17 is rotated counter-clockwise through a driven pin 26, which engages with the elongated hole 24a of the locking member 24 so as to pull down a working plate 6 through a connecting member 18. Consequently, each shutter plate 3 rotates counter-clockwise about a pin 4 as a fulcrum so as to open a ventilating port 2a. When the fan 1 is turned OFF,,the solenoid 8 is also deenergized, the working plate 6 returns to its initial position, the respective shutter plates close the ventilating port 2a and the engaging tip piece 17a is engaged with the engaging pin 29 so as to lock the working plate 6.
