PURPOSE:To decrease production processes as there is no need for spacers and to improve productivity by butting and tightening magnetic head cores which are projected with steps corresponding to the width of a magnetic gap at the top ends then polishing and cutting off the top ends including the steps to an arc shape. CONSTITUTION:The C-shaped magnetic head core 4 provided with the step 3 of the size corresponding to the width of the magnetic gap 2 at the top end 1 to contact a magnetic medium is formed. Such magnetic head cores 4 are disposed on both sides and the I-shaped magnetic head core 5 is disposed at the center thereof. The step 3 contact the central magnetic head core 5 when these magnetic head cores are tightened from both sides. The core for a magnetic head formed with the part to be used as the magnetic gap 2 is thus formed. The top end 1 of the core for the magnetic head including the step 3 is cut off as shown by a dotted line and is polished to the arc shape. Windings are formed on the central magnetic head core 5, by which the magnetic head for erasing of a double gap type is obtd. The magnetic head provided with the magnetic gap 2 of always the same size is obtd. simply by press welding the top ends 1.
