PURPOSE:A sugar-coated tabelt, obtained by using carrageenan as a binder to prevent delayed disintegration, coloring or cracking with time and coated with a carrageenan-containing sugar coating solution. CONSTITUTION:A sugar-coated tablet coated with a sugar-containing solution, containing one or more carrageenans selected from kappa-, iota or lambda- carrageenan, preferably carrageenan containing 10-100wt% iota-carrageenan as a binder in concentrations of 30-90wt%, preferably 40-70wt% sucrose and 0.01-3wt%, preferably 0.1-1wt% carrageenan. The above-mentioned sugar- coating solution has better hardness and impact resistance, shorter disintegration time and less browning and cracking than a conventional sugar-coating solution using gelatin, gum arabic powder, starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone, etc., as the binder and is excellent as a sugar-coated tablet.
