PURPOSE:To perform development faithful to an electrostatic latent image by making a smoke of a toner in the developing system using the one-component magnetic toner. CONSTITUTION:A magnet roll of a roll 11 is driven in the direction of an arrow by a motor or the like. The toner on a sleeve 8 is made into a chain-shape 21 and is formed along lines of the magnetic force, and the chain-shaped toner 21 is rotated by the magnetic force when magnetic poles of the magnet are moved. When the chain-shaped toner 21 is carried by the upper roll 11 and approaches a lower interlocking roll 12, a repellent is generated with the opposite magnetic field permeating the chain-shaped toner 21 by the magnetic field of the lower roll, and the chain-shaped toner 21 is broken to make a smoke of a toner 23. Since the magnetic attraction of magnetic rolls 11 and 12 does not reach the toner 23, a visible image faithful to the electrostatic latent image is obtained.
