PURPOSE:To detect a fault in a terminal equipment by informing a data representing the own equipment to be effective from a terminal equipment to a central unit or the like so as to discriminate an effective address without undesired data transmission. CONSTITUTION:When terminal equipments 8-10 are in the mode state, an initial data including the own address is sent to the central unit 1. When a supervisory control section 7 uses a reception section 5 to detect the initial data, the terminal equipment address at that time is registered in a table 6. Then the transmission/reception of a supervisory data is executed periodically between the central unit 1 and the terminal equipment having an effective address registered in the table 6. If malfunction takes place in any of the terminal equipments 8-10, the reception section 5 and the control section 7 detect it and it is processed by interruption. Thus, runaway of the CPU 2 due to an erroneous data or the destruction of data in a main memory 3 is prevented.
