The present invention provides the arrangement, according to a series of different combinations, of vertical rotary harrows in parallel rows and/or in parallel half-rows which are offset relative to one another and which can be operated independently of one another. The rotary axles of the harrows are mounted on a frame 6 or a plurality of frames 6, 10, the latter forming a single appliance. The reduction members 2 and driving members 3 are accommodated inside the said frames and are driven externally via the power take-off shafts 1 and 1' which project on the opposite side of the housing of the members 2. The mountings 13, 14 and 15 can be fastened to the tractor and serve for the connection of the power take-off shaft 1. As a result of the mirror-symmetrical arrangement of the mountings and the connection of the power take-off shaft 1' to the tractor, the appliance can be moved in the opposite direction of travel. <IMAGE>
