PURPOSE:To improve starting performance of an engine by providing a vacuum diaphragm unit comprising a diaphragm for partitioning into an atmospheric pressure head chamber and a negative pressure chamber where negative pressure of a vacuum modulator works, and a spring for applying force to the diaphragm from the negative pressure chamber to the atmospheric pressure head chamber. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm unit 10 has an atmospheric pressure head chamber 16 and a negative pressure chamber 18, which are partitioned by a diaphragm 14. Negative pressure of a vacuum modulator 40 is applied to the negative pressure chamber 18. A spring 28 is adapted to apply force to the diaphragm 14 from the negative pressure chamber 18 to the atmospheric pressure head chamber 16. When an engine is started after it is allowed to stand under low- temperature environment, the diaphragm 14 remains firm, and the throttle pressure of an oil path 32 is lowest, so that load of an oil pump can be minimum to improve starting performance of the engine. |
