What is described is a process for the finishing of fibres, filaments, yarns and/or sheet-like structures and/or bulky articles having these, in which they are irradiated by a laser in such a way that their surface is thereby melted and/or stripped at particular points, linearly or over an area. The apparatus used for carrying out the process has a radiation-generating laser and a conveying device which transports an endless web of fibres, filaments, yarns, sheet-like structures or bulky articles at a specific speed.
