The variable-ratio transmission mechanism is for use between an engine or other power unit and a rotary driven unit. A component (16,17) of variable eccentricity rotates with an input shaft (11), while an oscillating component (33,34) is formed by an eccentric pin on a rotary shaft (31), and bears against a cam face on the component (17). Rotary movement of the is transmitted by a freewheel coupling (41) to a gear (40) meshing with a further gear (13) on the output shaft (12). The design gives a steplessly-variable ratio, and when the eccentric component is axially in line with the input shaft torque is transmitted to the output shaft. |
