PURPOSE:To reduce a wear in the course of rolling, and to reduce a roughness drop by roughening the surface by irradiating a laser beam to the surface of a roller, and thereafter, irradiating again a laser beam whose energy density is smaller than that of the laser beam which has been used for roughening the surface, and whose energy is >=5X10<4>W/cm<2>. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam which has been outputted from a laser oscillator 3 is adjusted to a prescribed beam, reduced by aligning a focus to the surface of a roller 1 and irradiated. A laser irradiating head part 4 moves in parallel in the axial direction of the roller by a rotation of a driving screw 5 synchronizing with a rotation of the roller 1, and the surface of the roller 1 is roughened. Also, to the surface of the roller 1, a laser beam whose energy is smaller than that for the surface roughening working and not less than 5X10<4>W/cm<2> is irradiated by heat treatment use laser systems 7, 8, only the surface is raised to a prescribed temperature and a heat treatment is executed. In this way, the wear resistance of the surface of the roller 1 is improved, and the roughness drop can be reduced. |
