In an automatic telephone number transmitter with last number redial for telephone devices serving to transmit a telephone number stored in memory spaces of a digital memory of the device via the subscriber connection line into the telephone network, an automatic answering machine without call recording is integrated, the text for the announcement during automatic last number redial and the text for the automatic answering machine being stored in digital form in a solid-state memory and the text for the answering machine being able to be composed as required by the user himself from a predefined stock of sentence parts, words and numbers by means of a first keypad NT which is otherwise assigned to the name keys. The first keypad NT can be switched over from its operating mode as a telephone number transmitter to the operating mode as an answering machine by means of a changeover switch SS. The second keypad can also be switched over by means of the changeover switch SS from its operating mode for programming the digits of the telephone number transmitter to the operating mode for programming the answering machine. A common keypad is thus provided for the automatic telephone number transmitter and for the automatic answering machine by means of which either a telephone number or a predefined text is fed via the switchover into the common subscriber connection line.
