A self-striking fishing float has a float body, a strike element which is subject to the action of a spring element and reacts to the biting of a fish, a blocking element which holds the strike element against the force of the spring element in the position of rest, a locking element which holds the blocking element in the position of rest, and a securing element which secures the locking element against premature release which is to be brought into a position exposing the pivotally mounted locking element after ejection of the fishing float, by pulling on the fishing line, and is provided with an eye guiding the fishing line. It also has a further eye which guides the fishing line and moves rapidly upwards relative to the float body when the fishing float is released. The strike element which bears the further eye at its lower end is designed as a bar which in the position of rest extends substantially parallel to the axis of the float body and is articulated in the upper region of the float body to be pivotable relative to the latter. The blocking element is designed as a bar which is articulated on the lower region of the float body so as to be pivotable relative thereto, extends in the position of rest substantially parallel to the float body and holds the strike element against the force of the spring element.
