PURPOSE:To decrease the amt. of the spatter to be produced by specifying the carbon content in a wire, the treatment by water glass, flux compsn. and packing rate. CONSTITUTION:The iron powder flux cored wire is prepd. by adding water glass as a binder to a flux raw material contg. 65-90% (in terms of Fe, wt%, hereinafter the same) Fe or Fe alloy powder and 8-25% deoxidizing agent and pelletizing and baking the material, and obtaining the baked flux. The flux is packed into a tubular steel sheath at 15-35% by the total weight of the wire and the content in the entire wire is limited to <=0.05%. The problem with the conventional iron powder flux cored wire that the amt. of the spatter to be generated is large is thereby solved.
