A method for the reliable topographic-associative input of information items into computer-assisted control and switching systems by means of a desk panel of simple construction is described on which selectable track plan structures of traffic or industrial processes to be controlled are displayed. In the desk panel, a multiplicity of operating elements for switches, actuators and so forth are accommodated, of which the operating elements relevant in the track plan structure current in each case can either be addressed themselves by means of a handset to be applied by the operator, or influence this, as a result of which the computer receives its information for driving the corresponding switches, actuators and so forth. According to the invention, an additional visual display and marking of the operating elements (2) currently available is carried out for a track plan structure selected electrically via the computer and optically via a track plan template (4). After a positioned application of the handset (6) to an operating element (2), an input information item is output to the computer and causes the latter to determine the associated switch, actuator and so forth via the position of the input point or of the operating element (2) and output a corresponding information item.
