PURPOSE:To make a strong and long lifed metal die by pouring or press fitting the resin containing the metal powder with specified weight ratio into the female die of which a metallic plating film is formed by nonelectrolytic plating method on the cleaned surface and by packing a backup material in the spacious gap. CONSTITUTION:A metal plating film 5 is formed on the cleaning surface of a female die 4 by nonelectrolytic nickel - phosphorus alloy plating method, etc. The resin 6 containing the metallic powder of cast iron powder, steel powder, special steel powder, etc., about 10-1,000pts. to 100pts. resin in weight % is bonded with its pouring or press-fitting to the plating film surface 5 thereof. The contraction prevention and reinforcement of the metal die are performed by casting or press fitting the backup material 7 of cast iron or aluminum, etc., into the spacious gap further. The forming die with metal plating layer 5 is separated from the female die 4. This metal die is strong and of long life, also light-weighed and even a complicate shaped metal die can easily be manufactured.
