PURPOSE:To obtain a packing material having resistance to acid and alkali by using a packing material for liquid chromatography encapsulated in resin to reduce the influence of residual Si-OH group by enclosing Si-OH groups with the resin capsule. CONSTITUTION:A silicone compd. expressed by the general formula: (R<1>HSiO)a(R<2>R<3>SiO)b(R<4>R<5>R<6>SiO1/2)c (wherein R<1>, R<2>, and R<3> are 1-10C hydrocarbon groups substituted with halogen atoms; R<4>, R<5> and R<6> are H tom or similar hydrocarbon groups substituted with halogen atoms; a and b are zero or integers; c=0 or 2; a+b+c=3-300) is allowed to contact with powder to cause polymn. of the compd. on the whole surface of the powder, and unreacted Si-H groups are crosslinked in the presence of a catalyst. Thus, powder body having silicone polymer film on the whole surface is obtd. When the powder is used as packing material for liquid chromatography, the influence of residual Si-OH groups is reduced and a packing material having sharp polarity and high resistance to acid and alkali is obtd.
