PURPOSE:To easily deterge the waste water of the emulsifying oil contg. a large amount of a surface active agent by using a filter medium obtd. by mixing an alkaline earth metal compd. or its alloy to a fibrous material, and then forming it to a nonwoven fabric, a pile and a felt like filter mediums. CONSTITUTION:The filter medium is formed by mixing the powders of the alkaline earth metal compds. such as MgO, MgCO3, Mg(OH)2, CaO, CaCO3, Ca(OH)2 and CaSO4, etc., or the powders of the alloy contg. said compds. such as CaSi2, MgCaSi, MgSiFe and CaSiAl, etc., to a synthetic fiber or a natural fiber and then by forming it to a paper like and a laminate structure according to a felt making method or a paper making method. And then, the waste water of the emulsifying oil is filtered by using said filter medium. Thus, an oil component constituting the emulsifying oil and the surface active agent can be removed at a same time.
