Battery and process for its manufacture

In a battery containing an electrolyte cured by the addition of a gel former, the complete filling of the battery by the electrolyte and the stability thereof in all operating states is ensured if the gel former consists of at least two components which by virtue of combining with one another have effected curing. In a process for manufacturing a battery of this type for an aqueous electrolyte, at least two components of the gel former are brought into contact with one another and with the electrolyte in such a manner, that the initial result is merely an increase in the viscosity of the aqueous electrolyte, and that the final solidification caused by the components only takes place after an intermediate step proceeding automatically in the mixture has reached completion.
