A safety device is described for the seats of vehicles, especially cars, which has a three-point safety belt which has a winding-up device which winds up the belt and can be locked by means of locking elements when relatively large vehicle or belt accelerations occur, the safety belt also having a sliding clip which is held on the belt in a displaceable fashion and can be connected to a belt lock. In order, in the case of a safety device of this type, to make it possible to fasten a child restraint device, for example, in a reliable fashion, the sliding clip (1) is to have assigned to it a clamping device which is engaged when a load is exerted on the safety belt and which prevents extension of the lap belt part (17). The said clamping device is to have a clamping web (10) which is held so as to be displaceable essentially transversely to the pull-through slot (4) of the sliding clip (1) and about which the belt (2) is wrapped after it has looped through the pull-through slot, the belt being clamped when it is subjected to a load between the clamping web (10) and a slot edge (5) of the pull-through slot. <IMAGE>
