The invention relates to a lifting stage with a working platform and a railing. The lifting stage is vertically movable on one or two lifting masts which are of lattice-like, e.g. triangular, design in cross-section and are mounted on supporting arms, if need be movable on wheels. In each case at least one pinion of the drive device arranged on the working platform is in engagement with a toothed rack arranged on the lifting mast, the motor of the drive device being operable by means of a control box located on the working platform. Connecting elements for mounting an intermediate stage are formed on the side edges 8, 9 of the working platform 2. The working platform 2 as well as the intermediate stage can be widened telescopically. The arms 29 of the supporting frame 6 with the foot supports 11 can be extended telescopically (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
