In this device, a number of transducers for sending out and receiving ultrasonic signals are activated deferred and the corresponding echo signals are then evaluated. The essential feature of the present invention is the manner in which these transducers are controlled and the echo signals are evaluated in such a manner that the driver is provided with an optimum warning function.
