PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a cermet fine wire for explosion spraying by coating the surface of a conductive metallic core wire in a fine-wire state with ceramics film. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing the fine wire for wire explosion bonding spraying by use of a cermet material consisting of metals and ceramics, a coating 2 of ceramics of nitrides such as TiN, etc., carbides, oxides, etc., excellent in wear resistance is applied to the surface of a fine wire 1 excellent in corrosion resistance, such as stainless steel, etc., by PVD or CVD method so as to manufacture a cermet wire 3 for explosion spraying. According to this method, an extremely fine cermet wire for the formation of films excellent in resistance to corrosion and wear can easily be mass-produced, because it can be manufactured without recourse to a conventional process consisting of compacting and sintering the powders of metals and ceramics.
