PURPOSE:To produce a Ti-added Nb3Sn superconductive wire having excellent characteristics by immersing an Nb powder sintered body or Nb wire bundle into a specifically composed Sn-Ti bath or Sn-Ti-Cu bath to penetrate the alloy therein and subjecting such body or bundle to cold working then to a reaction heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:The material formed by press forming and sintering the powder of Nb or the wire bundle formed by bundling fine Nb wires and packing the same into an Nb pipe is immersed in a vacuum into the melt of an Sn-Ti alloy contg. 0.1-20wt% Ti, or the melt of an Sn-Ti-Cu alloy contg. 0.1-20wt% Ti and 0.1-30wt% Cu. Such material or bundle is introduced into a gaseous Ar atmosphere of 1 atm so that the melt of the Sn-Ti alloy or Sn-Ti-Cu alloy is penetrated into the sintered Nb body or wire bundle. Such body or bundle is made into a wire or tape shape by working such as cold working. The wire or tape is subjected to a heat treatment at 700-1,200 deg.C to bring Nb and Sn into reaction. The Nb3Sn superconductive wire which excels in characteristics with the upper critical magnetic field Hc2, critical current Ic and critical current density Jc is thus developed.
