A device for serving hot meals is described and shown (Figure 1), by means of which keeping the meals warm is achieved without additional warming means. For this purpose, the meals are served directly in the preparation implement, that is to say mainly in frying pans and casserole dishes. In order in this case to facilitate handling, an underlay (1, 2, 3) made of wood is used, in which the implement with the prepared meal is inserted and held by fasteners (4, 5). To protect the underlay in the case of a very hot implement and for securing it against slipping, various measures are provided. By using wood as the material for the underlay, a pleasant design of the device which is appropriate to the table is made possible, in addition to the heat insulation. <IMAGE>
