PURPOSE:To reduce assembling man-hours sharply, by providing an engaging stop member for a shift rod and fork rods wherein the stop member and the axes of them intersect orthogonally with each other, and disposing a cam plate which restrains the stop member from transferring to a reverse shift position. CONSTITUTION:An engaging stop member 6 is provided for the prescribed position of a shift rod 4 and fork rods 1a-1c wherein the stop member and the axes of them intersect orthogonally with each other, the corner portion 12 of a cam plate 7 is stopped engaging with the stop member 6, and only when a forward gear shift position is shifted for a reverse gear shift position, the stop member 6 of the sides of the rods is restrained from transferring to the reverse shift position. Thus, as main mechanism parts such as the cam plate 7, guide pins 8, 9, and the like can be wholly provided for the side of a case, a reverse maloperation preventing mechanism can be assembled and positioned without relating to a control mechanism of gear shifting built in the case, so that assembling man-hours can be reduced sharply.
