PURPOSE:To drive a clock with reduced driving energy, by providing a ring shaped guide for supporting and guiding the leading end only of a long hand. CONSTITUTION:When the DC motor 33 on a long hand 21 is moved by the order of a control circuit 36, the driving wheel 61 connected to the motor 33 advances on a guide plate 32 while the tooth chips thereof are meshed with a chain 60. The long hand 21 rotates and moves on a dial by predetermined time of a min by the two-point support due to a rotary shaft 23 and the driving wheel 61. When the long hand 21 makes one revolution on the dial through the gear group connected to the rotary shaft of the long hand 21, a short hand 22 performs predetermined motion as a clock showing hr-graduations. When the long hand 21 moves over the distance corresponding to a min while meshes with the chain, a light emitting element 68 and a light receiving element 69 detect light at a position where a gear like fixed disc 66 corresponds and operate to stop the motor 33. This operation is repeated at every one min and, each time when the long hand 21 makes one revolution on the dial, the short hand 22 makes 1/12 revolution to display time.
