PURPOSE:To shorten car width by installing the left and right side-frames in the engine room, which accommodates a horizontal engine, so that the two side-frames are situated at different levels, and by furnishing battery, transmission, etc. in reasonable arrangement. CONSTITUTION:This car engine room 1 has a left and aright side-frame 2L, 2R with hat-shaped profile stretching in the longitudinal direction of the car body, and a wheel apron 3 symmetrical to the left and right approximately is fixed to each of these side-frames 2L, 2R. A tyre 5 is fitted under each of these wheel apron 3, and a strut tower 7 intruding from apron 3 into the engine room 1 is installed to accommodate a suspension device 8. Here the two side- frames 2L, 2R are situated with a difference of levels B, wherein a battery 14 is placed on the lower side-frame 2L while a transmission 13 under the higher side-frame 2R.
