A plate piece with a reflecting surface is firstly stamped to a circular shape, and is provided with a hole to one side to permit insertion of lamp in the complete reflector. In a second stage, the plate piece is clipped along another of radial lines (12) so that between them a corresp. number of sector-shaped reflector segments (13) are formed. A scissors-type tool is used for clipping so that the two cut edges on opposite sides of the clipping line are displaceable relatively to one another across the plane of the plate piece, a gap (14) being formed between them. In the final stage of the process, the component is placed in a press with the blank surface facing the convex part of the press tool. When pressed, the segments (13) overlap at their edge parts, and can be ultimately joined by riveting or a similar means, the final bowl-shaped reflector than being ready for use.
