The rig has a stable body (1) in which are fixed platforms (3,4,5) which can rigidly retain the model end of a wind tunnel scales (2). Force-producing (11) and transmission units (11-15) provide force and torque to the other end of the scales, and precision indicators are employed, against which the scales calibration is effected. The precision indicators are fitted in or on lines or bars (12) forming part of the transmission unit for force and torque, or in or on the platforms (4). This permits, on the one hand, axial force components to be recorded, and on the other hand force and torque components. The force-producing unit is automatically controlled pneumatically or hydraulically with negligible hysteresis. A further control governs the automatic application of force and torque, and incorporates a data collection and processing unit for measurement data. |
